How was this solution not considered earlier?

The concept is actually pretty straightforward, as the power connector is oriented in an opposite direction towards the motherboard. The power cable then goes through a hole on the other side of the card and from there, the cable is connected to the power plug while still being hidden under a removable backplate. Since there is no connector on the other side of the card, there are no visible power cables.

This graphics card design has been revealed by Inno3D, who have a new brand for the Chinese market called AXGaming. We’ve seen many of their cards before, but this one is the first one with this idea.

What is important to note is that the connector is soldered to the board. There is no connector hanging on the cables, like we have seen on some reference and custom designs before. This will ensure that the connection is safe and secure.

Naturally, there are some minor issues with this idea, such as the distance between the motherboard and the power cable. It would make a lot more sense to move this connector further, right where all standard ATX motherboards end and where SATA cables are attached. This would provide an even easier cable management with no need to bend cables and squeeze them into small space.

According to the original report, AXGaming should implement this design for RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 Ti graphics cards, both are using exclusively standard 8-pin power connectors.
