Minisforum teases mini PCs powered by AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX and Intel i9

May 01, 2023

Some of the fastest laptop processors from AMD and Intel are coming soon to the mini PC market and Minisforum will be among the first to offer such systems. If the Intel i7-13700H and AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS builds are not impressive enough, Minisforum is planning to add more powerful systems with AMD's Dragon Range R9 7945HX and Intel's I9-13900HX.

The Chinese mini PC maker is not yet showing any mini PC builds powered by the aforementioned laptop processors. Instead, the Minisforum booth from Computex ‘23 is displaying mini-ITX motherboards with Dragon Range and Raptor Lake-HX BGA chips. The motherboards appear somewhat larger than Minisforum's usual format since they also include a PCIe 4.0 X16 slot for a full-size GPU. However, the GPU will not be directly connected to the motherboard, but via a riser cable that extends to a special mounting enclosure similar to the B550 Pro design

As seen in the pictures provided by WCCFTech, the mobos seem very similar and also integrate 2x DDR5 RAM slots, 2x M.2 storage slots and an 8-pin power connector, plus port selection with Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 connectors. Minisforum does not mention a specific launch date for these models, but we can expect the usual Kickstarter campaigns towards the end of this year.
